Who is this guy?

I'm a 26.9-year-old computer scientist and journalist from a small village in Pennsylvania, USA.

I like to think that I'm pretty easy going and generally put a lot of thought into things before I say them or do them. I'm an NTIJ.

I've been a member of the EFF for 7.3 years and a member of ACM for 8.1 years. I've been riding this planet for about 1,571,067,600 miles.

I'm an open source software enthusiast. I use Ubuntu Linux as my primary desktop operating system, but switch to Windows® occasionally to enjoy games without worrying about configuration. Ubuntu Linux because of its ease of setup and growing prevalence. I've tried Gentoo and Fedora, neither cut it for me.

I hold a B.S. in computer science from Westminster College and an M.S. in business education from Robert Morris University.

At Westminster College, I was the editor-in-chief of The Holcad, the student newspaper, for two years*. I write for ThinkComputers.org and BIOS LEVEL, the latter of which I co-founded.

I'm also into languages. While I am fluent in only English, I have five years of Latin and a single year of Spanish under my belt. I have a working knowledge of Esperanto and German, and I've been considering picking up an equivalent amount of Russian, as well. I haven't had an opportunity to take any of those as a class. My name transliterates to Cryllic roughly as Колин.

I'm currently a web developer for a growing promotional marketing company in Pittsburgh. I would eventually like to seek a doctorate in a field of computer science, run my own company, and/or hold public office.

My political views are very libertarian in nature. I believe in a strict federal adherence to the U.S. Constitution, especially civil liberties and states' rights. I believe in personal responsibility and private charity (I gave between 10 and 15 percent of my income to charity or political campaigns in 2006 and 2007).
