Information about the Alumni
The current alumni association began in the late '90s as an effort to unite alumni of YLoWPA's seminars. Its membership currently consists of alumni from as far back as the 1998 seminar, with active members from the 2000 seminar to the most recent one.
A primary purpose of the alumni association is to support the corporate board and seminar staff at the seminar by returning as alumni staff. Alumni staff—the blue shirts—sit with ambassadors and facilitators and do a lot of the "behind the scenes" work.
There are currently no dues associated with the alumni. Membership is open to anyone who has attended HOBY in western Pennsylvania prior to 2003 or attended WPAYL from 2003 to the present.
The alumni meet regularly, at least three times a year aside from seminar. Oftentimes, its meetings are held at fundraising events such as Light the Night or Relay for Life. Most meetings are held at an alumni's house in the greater Pittsburgh area.
