History of Youth Leadership of Western Pa., Inc.
Youth Leadership of Western Pennsylvania, Inc. (YLoWPA) was founded in the early nineties to administer the western Pennsylvania Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Conference (HOBY). It conducted the seminar at a variety of locations throughout western Pennsylvania until 2003, when it left the control of HOBY's national organization as a result of a disagreement regarding students paying to attend the seminar.
YLoWPA continued, establishing the Western Pennsylvania Youth Leadership (WPAYL) seminar. Free from the bonds of a national organization dictating its activities, YLoWPA was able to conduct its seminar as it saw fit.
The result is WPAYL, a fun-filled weekend of leadership, new friends, and learning about onesself.
